Joseph Bertsch studied printmaking at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point and teaches at the Middle School level.

When it comes to art making, his process flows haphazardly – alternating between traditional printmaking, painting and drawing media. Without a definitive end in mind, his embarkment begins with a playful act that serves as a simple source of inspiration – A mark, an area of color or a texture. From there, Joseph layers, heaps, covers up or takes away until he feels the composition is satisfying, but never complete. So, he begins again.
